Te Kotuku Facility Extension Project at Whangarei Hospital

Excited to share the successful completion of the Te Kotuku Facility Extension project at Whangarei Hospital for Te Whatu Ora partnering with @Argon Constructors. Our team at Airzone was proud to lead the vertical expansion and fit out of the existing Building E, enhancing healthcare infrastructure for the Te Tai Tokerau community.

This transformative project involved:

  • Fit out of Level 2 shell space for a Pediatric Ward, Neonatal and Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), and shared clinical areas.
  • Construction of a new Laboratory at Level 3.
  • Implementation of advanced HVAC systems, including Trane air cooled reverse cycle heat pumps, VAV systems, CAV AHUs, FCUs, and negative pressure Isolation rooms with Hepa exhaust.
  • New Trane air cooled reverse cycle heat pumps to supply space heating water and DHW preheating to the building (new and existing). Allowing isolation of existing fossil fuel boilers.
  • Integration with existing central energy plant for chilled water supply.
  • Comprehensive BMS control and monitoring for optimal system performance.

Our team handled the intricate landing, installation, and wiring of mechanical equipment, ducting, fans, control boards, and pipework, ensuring the project's success from start to finish.

Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to healthcare infrastructure that enhances patient care and comfort.
